About us

Urszula Szuleta

My name is Urszula Szuleta and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to teach you Polish as a Second Language! I was born and raised in Poland, where I also grew up and completed my education. In 2004 I graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań with a Master of Arts degree, majoring in Education. I continued my studies, and in 2011 I earned a postgraduate degree in Polish as a Second Language from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. I started teaching the Polish Language in Chicago in 2006, then from 2015 in Houston. Currently I’m  Adjunct Professor of Elementary Polish Language at St. Thomas University in Houston.

In 2019 I started my own language school: Polish Academy Houston.
During my 14 years of experience teaching Polish, I have continually worked on improving my qualifications by participating in conferences, workshops, and additional courses that perfected my knowledge and approach to teaching. Being a native Pole, I love my country, its rich culture and traditions, and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to share all that with you. I am excited to have you in my class and join you on this fascinating journey of learning Polish.

Do zobaczenia!!!!

About us

Our Mission

In December 1854, one hundred Polish families arrived in Galveston on the Weser. They founded Panna Maria, the first Polish settlement in North America. By 1861 there were about 1,500 Poles in Texas. Generations of Polish Texans can’t speak with their ancestors’ language.

Polish Academy Houston is giving the opportunity for many of them to learn the Polish language, also for children and people moving to the Houston area. Moreover, many other nationalities get interested to learn the Polish language, fascinated by Polish culture and tradition.

Polish Academy Houston is really proud to provide classes to learn the language who survive for 123 years when Poland disappeared as a country and the Polish people were divided into the forests of Russia Germany and Austria. Also, we are happy to promote not only the Polish language,  but also the Polish culture and tradition.

Lessons are arranged to suit student’s needs and great emphasis is placed on providing an enjoyable and stimulating learning environment to develop practical communicative skills.

We offer everything from individual lessons, to group classes as well as summer language camps, private lessons and mini-group courses for executives and professionals, online study trips to Poland, I-Fest participations, and many different events and activities to promote the language and Poland.

In the Polish Academy,  we use a modern efficient method and a friendly environment in which you can learn Polish.
